Data Retention and Deletion
When you delete your NerdyNotes account, the following occurs:
Data that is deleted immediately:
- Your account credentials and authentication information
- Your email address and profile information
- Your app preferences and settings
- Your payment information (we do not store complete credit card details)
- Your in-app activity history and logs
GitHub-related data:
Important: NerdyNotes uses GitHub OAuth for premium features, and your notes may be stored in GitHub repositories.
- GitHub OAuth access: When you delete your NerdyNotes account, we immediately revoke our OAuth access to your GitHub account.
- GitHub repositories: Any notes synced to GitHub repositories remain in your GitHub account. NerdyNotes will no longer have access to these repositories after account deletion, but the repositories and their contents will remain in your GitHub account unless you manually delete them.
- Manual GitHub cleanup: To remove your notes from GitHub, you will need to delete the corresponding repositories from your GitHub account separately.
Local device data:
- Local notes: Notes stored locally on your device will remain until you manually uninstall the app. These notes are stored in your device's private storage area and are not accessible to NerdyNotes after account deletion.
- Clearing local data: To completely remove all local note data, uninstall the NerdyNotes app from your device after deleting your account.
Data retained for legal purposes:
- Transaction records: Basic records of financial transactions (without personal identifiers) may be retained for tax and accounting purposes as required by law.
- Anonymized analytics: Aggregated, anonymized usage data that cannot be linked back to your account may be retained for analytics purposes.
- Legal compliance data: Information required for legal compliance or to prevent fraud may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion.
Additional Information
- Processing time: Account deletion requests are typically processed within 24 hours.
- Subscription cancellation: Deleting your account automatically cancels any active premium subscriptions at the end of the current billing period.
- Irreversible action: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All associated account data will be irretrievably lost.
- Backup data: System backups containing your data may exist for up to 30 days, after which your data will be completely removed from our backup systems.
